Scottish Government gives further backing of £1.5million to Scottish EDGE

Deputy First Minister, John Swinney today took the opportunity to announce a further £1.5 million in grant funding to support Rounds 8 and 9 of Scottish EDGE, in The Big Interview in the March edition of Business Insider magazine.

The £1.5 million of funding breaks down to £425,000 of grant funding for Scottish EDGE, £125,000 for Higgs EDGE, £100,000 for Young EDGE and £100,000 for Wild Card EDGE in each of the next two rounds of the competition with finals in June and December 2016.

Mr Swinney said, “We’ve given relatively small sums of money to the Scottish EDGE Fund but I consider them to have been some of the most impactful sums of money that I’ve ever allocated.”

Since the first Scottish EDGE awards were made in February 2013 a total of 479 new Scottish Jobs have been created, £21.6million of additional turnover has been generated and £18.7million of external funding has been received.
