Johnston Carmichael Unveiled As Partner To Support Scottish Edge Fund Businesses

Scotland’s largest independent firm of accountants and business advisers, Johnston Carmichael, has been named as an official advisory partner by the Scottish EDGE Fund. Through this association the firm will provide chartered accountancy and business advice to finalists and winners of this year’s Scottish Edge Fund competition, taking place next Tuesday (9 December) in Edinburgh. Johnston Carmichael will also provide support to the Scottish EDGE Company.

The Scottish EDGE is a £5m+ fund endowed by serial entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter, the Royal Bank of Scotland PLC and the Scottish Government which has taken in applications from young, potentially high growth businesses capable of internationalisation. Following a shortlisting process, a select number of finalists will compete for a prize of up to £100,000 in funding support.

Mark Houston, Managing Partner of Johnston Carmichael’s Glasgow office, said:

Our partnership with Scottish Edge has come through Johnston Carmichael’s position as the key business advisor to Scotland’s SME community. We are looking forward to working with the finalists from this year, offering them invaluable access to our tax, corporate finance and business solutions consultants and supporting them with cutting edge advice.

Evelyn McDonald, CEO of Scottish Edge Fund said:

Given their wide client base and expertise across Scotland’s SME market, we’re delighted to have Johnston Carmichael on board as a partner. They will add tremendous value to this year’s finalists as they seek expert advice on accountancy and other business development matters. Next Tuesday’s final event will celebrate the huge opportunity for start-ups in Scotland and we are very pleased to have so much support from leading organisations including Johnston Carmichael.
