After a packed day of finalist pitches and discussion on Thursday, it is with great pleasure that we can today announce the winners of the Scottish EDGE Round 8 Wild Card competition. Designed to boost pre-trading businesses on their start-up journey in Scotland, Wild Card EDGE winners receive up to £10,000 in grant funding. Businesses will also receive a non-financial business support package, provided by the Scottish EDGE’s various partner organisations.
One week on from the intriguing Old Firm game, Hampden Park was the venue for an even more exciting event – the start of the Glasgow Kiltwalk 2016. After an inspiring speech from Sir Tom Hunter and a weather update from Sean Batty, 4,500 walkers were set on their way for the twenty-six mile ‘Mighty Stride.’ Within this year’s pack was Steven Hamill, Chief Operating Officer at the Scottish EDGE, representing the Scottish EDGE team in their efforts to raise £1,450 for STV Appeal. Setting off to the sound of bagpipes, the atmosphere was electric, but the greeting at the finish line seven hours later was even better.
The Scottish EDGE are delighted to announce that the final for Round 8 of the Scottish EDGE competition will be compered by renowned Scottish comedian and presenter Fred MacAulay, with tickets available starting today. Taking place on Monday, June 20th, 2016 at the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Gogarburn Conference Centre, the Round 8 Final will support Scotland’s most innovative, high-growth potential start-up businesses with up to £100,000 in cash and an all-encompassing business support package.
At the Scottish EDGE, we’re just as passionate about supporting our alumni as we are about encouraging new applications from Scotland’s up and coming entrepreneurs. That’s why we’re launching a new monthly blog series which charts the successes of our past winners in the past month. There’s lots to celebrate, with March 2016 seeing our alumni receive a number of awards, prize nominations, sell-out pre-orders, and more.
