Scottish EDGE, the UK's BIGGEST small business funding competition, is delighted to announce that tickets for the Round 14 Final are now available!

Taking place on Tuesday 28th and Thursday 30th May, at The Technology and Innovation Centre, Glasgow and the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Gogarburn Conference Centre, Edinburgh, the Round 14 Final will support Scotland’s most innovative, high-growth potential startup businesses with up to £150,000 in cash and an all-encompassing business support package.

Having completed 13 successful rounds, Scottish EDGE – which is supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Hunter Foundation, the Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise - has had an unquestionable impact on the Scottish economy.

To date, EDGE has awarded over £13 million to over 350 Scottish businesses. In the last round of Scottish EDGE, cash prizes of almost £2 million were shared amongst just under forty winners across four different competition categories.

The exciting and fun final will run over two days, with pitching, networking, and keynote speakers. The daytime event offers the chance to watch this year’s Scottish EDGE finalists pitch for up to £150,000 in front of an expert panel of judges.

Simon has worked in the wholesale distribution industry for 20 years and is currently the fifth generation family member to run the company. J W Filshill Ltd is a multi-award winning wholesale business based in Glasgow, which supplies circa 8000 convenience style products to 1400 different businesses across Scotland and the North of England generating a turnover of £143m whilst employing over 200 members of staff. Filshill also run a 170 strong convenience symbol group chain (KeyStore) in Scotland.

Simon is also CEO of JW Filshill International Ltd (t/a The Craft Beer Clan of Scotland), Director of Clan Brewing Company Ltd, Chairman at the Today's Group (UK largest independent buying group), Non-Executive Director at Brewgooder and Non-Executive Director at Flavourly.com

Simon’s strengths lie clearly in strong collaborative relationships with both customers and suppliers. He has high levels of expertise in logistical efficiency and consolidation models, retail, wholesale and a flair for innovation.

Simon was shortlisted as Entrepreneur of the Year in the Scottish Business Awards in 2012, finalist in Ernst Young Entrepreneur of Year 2016 and The Grocer Gold Awards Entrepreneur of Year finalist 2016
Simon also won The Scottish Grocer Industry Achievement Award in 2016
